JARIYAH

A prayer-time display for your prayer hall

Jariyah’s prayer-time display is a wall screen for the prayer hall, run from the same platform as your kiosk and member app. It shows the time, the next prayer with a countdown, and today’s adhan and iqamah from your masjid’s one schedule, with your fundraising underneath: the amount raised and, when you set a goal, a progress bar.

Prayer-time display

What it does

  • The time and what is next

A large clock on your masjid’s own time, the date with the Hijri day, and the next prayer with a countdown. Today’s adhan and iqamah sit underneath, the next one marked.

  • One prayer schedule

Adhan times are worked out from your building’s location; iqamah follows your committee’s rules. It is the same schedule the member app shows.

  • Fundraising on the wall

A headline such as “Raised this month” or your appeal’s name, the total, and the number of gifts, added up from the same records the kiosk writes.

  • A goal only when you set one

With a target, a progress bar fills against it; without one, the screen shows the total alone. It never invents a goal.

  • Nothing to tap

Paired once with a code, then left alone. It asks for new figures every thirty seconds and runs for weeks.

  • Honest when offline

If the network drops, it keeps the last figures on screen and says how old they are, instead of going blank.

  • Your name and logo

Your masjid’s name and logo — or your initials, never another masjid’s crest.

  • Per building

Each screen belongs to a location, and its headline, goal and counting window can differ from one building to the next.

How it works

How it works for a masjid

  1. 1

    Set your prayer times

Pin the building on the map and type the iqamah rules once; every day after works itself out.

  2. 2

    Pair the screen

Open your masjid’s display address on the screen and type the pairing code.

  3. 3

    Choose what it says

A headline, a goal if you have one, and how many days to count.

  4. 4

    Leave it

The console’s Displays page shows whether each screen is online and when it was last heard from.

People

Who uses it

  • The congregation

Reads it from across the hall, with nothing to touch.

  • The office

Pairs each screen and sees from the console that it is online.

  • Whoever runs the appeal

Sets the headline and the goal for each building.

Questions

Prayer-time display: common questions

How are the prayer times worked out?

Adhan times are calculated from the sun, using your building’s coordinates, your time zone and the calculation method your masjid follows, such as ISNA. Iqamah times follow your committee’s own rules. Nobody types in a year of dates, and the member app reads the very same schedule.

Can each iqamah follow its own rule?

Yes. Each of the five prayers takes its own rule: a number of minutes after the adhan, minutes after it rounded up to the next five, or a fixed time such as 19:45 all season. A prayer can also have no iqamah at all, if your masjid only announces the adhan.

What does the screen show if the internet goes down?

It keeps showing the last figures it received, and once they are genuinely out of date it says how long ago they were updated. A blank screen in a prayer hall helps nobody; an old number that admits it is old is honest, and the office can see from the console that the screen went quiet.

Does anyone need to touch the screen?

No. The display is paired once with a code and then needs nobody: there is nothing to tap and no one to sign in. It checks for new figures every thirty seconds and is built to run for weeks, and the office can see from the console whether it is online.

How are Fajr and Isha handled in a Canadian summer?

Far enough north, the sky may not get dark enough to calculate Fajr and Isha by angle alone. Jariyah applies a high-latitude rule with a default, but because the choice is a juristic one, the team asks your masjid’s committee to confirm it rather than deciding for you.
