JARIYAH

Mosque accounting software, built for Canada

Jariyah Bookkeeping is mosque accounting software made for a Canadian masjid, not a business. Every gift posts itself to the books against its fund, so Zakat and the building fund stay apart; bank statements are reconciled to the cent; and the year-end statements come out in a charity’s own words, from the records the T3010 draws on.

Masjid bookkeeping

Masjid bookkeeping, from the gift to the year-end

  1. 1

    Gifts post themselves

A card gift at the kiosk, or a cheque or e-Transfer the office records against a donor, reaches the books in the same step, against the fund the donor chose.

  2. 2

    Fees and pay arrive too

Madrasha fee payments post as they are received. With HR & payroll, for federal and Saskatchewan pay, a final pay run posts on its pay date.

  3. 3

    The bank, reconciled

Import the bank statement as OFX, QFX or CSV. Each line is matched or approved, never imported twice, and a reconciliation completes only when it agrees to the cent.

  4. 4

    The year, closed

A statement of financial position, a statement of operations and a cash flow, each checking itself, then a year-end close that locks the year so nothing moves in it.

Fund accounting

How does a mosque keep Zakat apart in its books?

With a fund on every line. Where general accounting software uses classes or tags for restricted money, Jariyah Bookkeeping lets each line of the books carry its fund: Zakat, Sadaqah, the building fund, a grant. What each one received, spent and holds is added up from its own lines, apart from the general total.

  • The Funds tab

What each fund received, spent and holds, side by side. A fund is a tag on each line of the one set of books, not a separate ledger, so money given for one purpose is always visible on its own.

  • The donor’s choice, kept

A gift at the kiosk or at the office is recorded against the fund the donor chose, the Zakat fund or any other, and posts to the books against that same fund.

  • Grants by their fund

With grant management, each grant names its fund, and its page shows what was received, spent and is left, read straight from the books.

  • A pledge is not money

A pledge is a promise and is never counted as money received. What has been paid is added up from real gifts that name the pledge.

For a registered charity

Mosque, masjid or Islamic centre accounting software for a registered charity

  • The T3010

Every registered charity files its annual information return within six months of its year end. Jariyah keeps the books, the receipts and the payroll records the return’s figures draw on. Your accountant or treasurer files the return; Jariyah does not file it for you.

  • A charity’s statements

A statement of financial position and a statement of operations, with net assets and a surplus: a charity’s words, not a balance sheet and a profit and loss.

  • A chart made for a charity

A starting chart of accounts for a Canadian charity, offered once on an empty chart: net assets instead of owner’s equity, and receipted and non-receipted donations in accounts of their own. You can change any of it.

  • Previous books, brought in and graded

Your previous books come in from reconciled working papers, to the cent or not at all, then are graded A to E against a written standard drawn from the Income Tax Act, CRA guidance and ASNPO, Canada’s accounting standards for not-for-profit organizations.

  • A trail a reviewer can follow

Every entry balances to the cent or is refused. A posted entry is never edited or deleted; a correction is a reversal that names the original, so your accountant can follow each figure back to its source.

  • Receipts from the same records

For a registered charity, official donation receipts are issued from the same gift records the books hold, and a gift is never on two receipts.

Jariyah Bookkeeping keeps the books; it is not legal or tax advice, and it does not replace your accountant. A grade shows readiness, never an audit opinion, and your directors remain responsible for the charity’s filings.

Questions

Mosque accounting in Canada: common questions

What accounting software should a mosque use in Canada?

One made for a registered charity, not a business. It should keep money given for Zakat or a building apart by fund, reconcile to the bank to the cent, and produce a statement of operations rather than a profit and loss. Jariyah Bookkeeping is masjid accounting software built that way for Canada, and your accountant still files the T3010.

Does the chart of accounts split receipted and non-receipted donations?

Yes, in the starting chart. Jariyah offers a Canadian charity’s starting chart once, on an empty chart: net assets instead of owner’s equity, and donations in two accounts, receipted and not receipted, the way the T3010 asks. Nothing in the platform reads the account codes, so you can rename, renumber or add accounts afterwards.

Does Jariyah prepare or file our T3010?

No. Jariyah keeps the books, receipts and payroll records that the T3010’s figures draw on, in a form a reviewer can follow, and your accountant or treasurer files the return within six months of your year end. The starting chart already keeps receipted and non-receipted donations in accounts of their own.

Does payroll post to the books?

Yes, with Jariyah HR & payroll, for federal and Saskatchewan pay. A final pay run posts its entry on its pay date: the net pay leaves the masjid’s bank account, and the deductions owed to the CRA wait in a payable that a recorded remittance clears, so nothing is typed twice.

Can we move our existing books into Jariyah?

Yes, from your reconciled working papers. The import reproduces their totals and month-end balances to the cent or writes nothing, then the books are graded A to E against a written standard drawn from the Income Tax Act, CRA guidance and ASNPO. The grade shows readiness; it is not an audit opinion.

How much does mosque accounting software cost?

Jariyah does not publish prices. Bookkeeping is one service, switched on alone or beside the donation kiosk, donor management, payroll and the others, so the conversation starts with how your masjid keeps its books today. The Jariyah team sets it up. Call or text Ashique Hossain at 306-209-3923 to talk it through.
